The main function of DAO office is to organize and manage the extension activities and Pani Panchayat

Extension Activity

The main aim of the extension activity is to –

  Diffuse technical know how from the laboratory to the field

 Educate each and every farmer in the field of Agriculture to boost up  crop production

 Arrange to supply the agriculture inputs to the needy farmers such as supply of genetically healthy and certified seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, agricultural credits etc.

 Take active steps in formation of Pani Panchayat in each and every irrigation projects and chalkout cropping programme for individual ayacutdars of the project

Pani Panchayat (Water Users Association)

The main functions of Pani Panchayat are –

1.     One Pani Panchayat  will be formed for one irrigation project. There will be one elected president and one Secretary for each Pani Panchayat and have one S.B Account in any near by banks to operate jointly.

2.     Any funds collected is to be deposited in the account.

3.     After formation of Pani Panchayat, it is to be get registered under Society of Irrigation Act,1860 by the Registrar of Societies of the District.

4.     After registration, the entire project will be handed over to the association and the same will be maintained by them.

5.     The water tax collected from the users will be kept in the S.B Account which will be utilized for the repair and maintenance of the project and payment of electricity dues where ever necessary.

6.     The main aim is to involve the farmers directly in the irrigation system

 Steps are being taken for formation of Pani Panchayats in rest of the projects at the earliest. The extension system in the project area is strengthened by encouraging the Apex Committee of Pani Panchayat for collection of Soil samples from the project area and its Laboratory test, use of recommended fertilizers as per soil health cards, chalking out suitable cropping pattern for individual ayacutdars basing on the land classification and agroclimatic zones and give a special look to increase the crop production and productivity of the area.
